Sudan's Merriekh fires at absent Egyptian keeper El-Hadary Club calls on EFA to prevent keeper training with Egyptian teams, expected to report player to FIFA
Sudanese club Merriekh have lodged a complaint with the Sudanese Football Association against Egyptian international goalkeeper, Essam El-Hadary, due to his unauthorised absence from the club. They are also expected to report the player to FIFA, citing his lack of commitment. “The club, under the presidency of Gamal El-Wali, demanded the association contact their Egyptian counterpart to prevent all clubs from allowing the player to train with them,” Sudanese newspaper Al-Sada reported on Thursday. “I was surprised when I found the player's agent, Mohamed Shiha, in Khartoum negotiating with me about El-Hadary's release even though he is engaged with us on a three-year contract,” Merriekh official, Motawakkel Ahmed, was quoted as saying. The conflict between the 39-year old player and Merriekh became heated after they rejected any possible move to Hull City after he had completed a week's trail with the English second-division side. The former Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily player still dreams of playing abroad again and has just a solitary experience in Europe with Swiss's FC Sion, in an illegal move from Ahly back in 2008 which resulted in FIFA kicking Sion out of this year's Europa League.
