Handball: Angola beat Morocco to reach African Cup of Nations semis Hosts Egypt are set to play against Congo later on Wednesday in their own quarter-final clash
Morocco's handball team were eliminated from the 2016 African Cup of Nations after Wednesday's 22-21 defeat to Angola in the quarterfinals. Angola, who finished third twice at the 2004 and 2008 editions of the African Cup, ensured their place in the tournament's semis where they will meet the winner between Egypt and Congo. Morocco ended the group stage in third place in Group A with six points, four behind leaders Egypt after winning three matches and losing twice. Their best ever result was in 2006 when they came third, while they have also finished in fourth place six times. In the preliminary round, Angola came second in Group B with eight points, two behind leaders Tunisia after winning four matches and losing in one. In other quarterfinals matches later on Wednesday, Tunisia will take on Cameroon, Algeria will face off with DR Congo, while the hosts Egypt are set to play against Congo.
