El-Hadary to leave Merriekh and get back to Egypt Egypt goalie Essam El-Hadary wants to return home after complications with officials from Sudanese side Merriekh
Despite signing a three-year contract with the Sudanese giants last January, Egypt goalkeeper, Essam El Hadary announced that he will leave Sudanese side Merriekh due to personal reasons. “I have to stay in Egypt with my family so I will quit Merriekh,” The 38-year-old said. The former Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily net guard was attacked during a meeting with Merriekh president Gamal El-Waly for reports linking the player with Egyptian and European offers. “I know nothing about these reports,” El Hadary insisted. Egyptian side Maqassa have revealed an interest in acquiring the Pharaohs' goalie. Maqassa general trainer Tarek Mostafa said they are “close to reaching an agreement with El Hadary.” Some may link the controversial keeper's announcement with the changes Wednesday in the Egyptian Premier League as former Egypt coach, Hassan Shehata was named as Zamalek's coach, succeeding Hossam Hassan who is linked to an Ismaily move.
