Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi will on Sunday meet with Yemen's Vice President Khaled Bahah to discuss the latest developments in the Yemen crisis. Bahah arrived at Cairo International Airport on Sunday morning, where he was welcomed by Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Transitional Justice Ibrahim El-Heneidy Bahah met with El-Sisi earlier last June. Egypt is a member of the Saudi-led coalition formed to fight the advance of Houthi rebels in Yemen. In late June, a statement approved by all 15 security council members at the UN called for a humanitarian truce in the Yemen fighting, which went into effect on Friday and will run until 17 July. However, on Sunday Saudi-led coalition airstrikes continued across the country; in ignorance of the UN-proposed truce. The UN special envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, stated that the country is "one step" from famine. According to the UN more than 21 million people, about 80 percent of the population, need humanitarian assistance. In March, Houthi rebel fighters seized control of the capital Sanaa, causing the country's president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia launched a coalition to fight against the Houthi rebels. Since March, the Saudi-led coalition launched airstrikes on Yemen, killed more than 3,200 people and wounded more than 8,000 according to the Human Rights Watch. There are eight members of the Saudi-led coalition on Yemen: Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, and Morocco. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/135173.aspx
