Egypt arrive in Gaborone ahead of crucial Botswana clash Pharoahs must defeat unfancied Botswana away from home if they are to keep their hopes alive of reaching the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
The Egypt national team have held their first training session in Gaborone as they prepare for their crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Botswana on Friday. The Pharaohs arrived in the Botswana capital on Tuesday. They cannot afford a slip up against the Group G outsiders after losing to Senegal and Tunisia in their two opening games. Manager Shawky Gharib, however, will have to do without keeper Sherif Ekramy, Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady and Zamalek right-back Hazem Emam - who have pulled out of the squad due to injury. Egypt then host the African minnows five days later. The record seven-time African champions hope to book a berth at a Cup of Nations tournament they have failed to reach in the previous two editions.
