Violence in downtown Cairo stopped after four hours of clashes and protesters returned to Tahrir Square, and the street vendors left the square. The clashes left seven wounded from birdshot, leaving some in critical condition. Others were wounded with cuts on their head, and at least one dislocated his shoulder. Clashes started between members of the April 6 Youth Movement and street vendors, closing stores and forcing protestors to leave the square. The protesters removed all the vendors' possessions, and began cleaning the square and pacifying the situation. Political activist Ahmed Duma said that the clashes took place after vendors used trumpets the protesters asked them stop disturbing elderly protestors.
