CAIRO: The Saudi, Sudanese and Algerian foreign ministers today arrived at Cairo International Airport to participate in an emergency Arab League meeting to discuss the Syrian crisis. In previous meetings, the foreign ministers decided to give the Syrian authorities time to execute the League's recommendations. The ministers decamped to a hotel near the airport instead of immediately convening at the League headquarters due to continuing unrest in Tahrir Square. The ad hoc meeting in the hotel discussed the recent memorandum issued to Syria, warning of possible sanctions due to the security conditions and bloodshed in the embattled country headed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
