The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) will hold an international seminar concerning Imam Abu Hamed el-Ghazzali at the headquarters of the Arab World Institute in Paris on December 2, the 900th anniversary of his death. ISESCO, the High Islamic Studies Institute, the Arab World Institute in France, and groups researching Salvic, Middle Eastern and Hellenic studies at Strasburg University will participate in this international seminar. Abdallah Bin Arafa, an expert in cultural variation and communication, will represent ISECSO and also supervise the seminar. Specialized experts in philosophy, Islamic thought and Middle Eastern studies from many countries will also participate in the seminar. Imam Abu Hamed el-Ghazzali lived in an Islamic period characterized by political and philosophical movements. He contributed to these movements by leaving a heritage, like his book “The Revival of Religious Sciences,” which influenced scholars throughout the ages. The seminar participants will describe the virtues and characteristics of this great Islamic figure and comment on the absence of love, forgiveness and debate in today's world.
