The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) amd partner United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), will hold an experts' meeting on technology transfer in energy and efficient lighting to combat climate change, in Beirut, from September 27-30. The meeting is aimed at promoting the role of institutions in finding appropriate solutions to counter the adverse effects of climate change through manufacturing and innovation of modern techniques which reduce greenhouse gas emissions such as the mainstreaming of renewable energy, promotion of innovation and manufacturing of new energy-saving equipment and bulbs, and use of disaster monitoring and forecasting equipments in order to avoid devastating effects. Other objectives of the meeting include developing means and solutions, and taking stock of modern techniques and early warning units used in mitigating or preventing the adverse effects of climate change on natural resources and the environment. Hatem Mohamed Mekhemer, expert in water resources at the Science Directorate, will supervise this meeting for ISESCO. BM
