CALIFORNIA, USA: A silent march has been organized by the Coptic Roots Movement in California in coordination with a number of Coptic Christian organizations and activists as well as with a number of American churches. The march will take place in synchronization with the march organized by the Maspiro Youth Movement on Friday demanding a fair investigation of the deadly October 9 Maspiro clashes between Coptic demonstrators and the Egyptian Armed in Cairo. The clashes left 27 dead. Eilya Makar, coordinator of the Roots Movement, said the march will move from two different sites to attract the public's attention to what happened in Maspiro, raising the necessity of prosecuting the criminals who killed the peaceful demonstrators. Regarding the objectives of such activities, Makar said "we have only one objective which is to achieve justice for all Egyptians." He added that the increasing violence against Egypt's Copts increases their insistence of prosecuting the criminals. The march will also denounce imprisoning the Maspiro demonstrators, demanding the Egyptian authorities commit to international agreements regarding respecting human rights and religious freedom.
