CAIRO: The Egyptian Ministries of Trade and Industry, Social Solidarity, Health and Agriculture yesterday formed joint committees to review the imported wheat in countries of origin. The goal is to reject illegal cargo before it enters Egyptian territory, said Ali Suleiman, the head of the Egyptian Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine. These new measures will be implemented by sending members of the joint committees to the countries of origin and checking the standards, he said. This new step saves at least a week in the process of checking standards. Two engineers from the Agricultural Quarantine, an official in the Health Ministry and a member of the Organization for Export and Import Control form the committee. In the past, the agricultural cargo was checked in Egypt and returned to the original country if it did not meet health standards, added Suleiman. The formation of these committees came at the request of the Ministers of Social Solidarity and Trade and Industry.
