CAIRO: The Syrian community in Cairo and representatives of the Syrian opposition demanded on Saturday to impose a no-fly zone in Syria, to protect Syrian civilians from being killed by the regime of Bashar al-Assad. They also demanded to dismiss the Syrian ambassador to the Arab League, saying that any further period given to the current regime in Syria means more Syrian victims and more bloodshed. During a protest outside the Syrian Embassy in Cairo on Sunday, they renewed their demand to remove Assad's regime and establish a democratic republic in Syria. They raised photographs of killed children and sheikhs. The head of the coordination committee to support the Syrian revolution, Moamen Koufatiya, said the Syrian regime sent many of its thugs to different Arab countries to support the regime outside Syrian embassies. “We know their tactics but we will not be provoked and use their same cheap means,” said Koufatiya. He also said he was sure if the regime will use thugs after the Syrian opposition managed to expose their crimes against the unarmed Syrian people. The Syrian community will organize a protest on Sunday outside the Syrian Embassy in Cairo. This will coincide with the termination of the period stated by the Arab League emergency conference held on October 16 for the Syrian regime to launch a national dialogue.
