Wadi el-Gadeed (New Valley) Governor Maj. Gen. Tarek Mahdy met with a delegation of a German-Italian Company specializing in solar power plants at the headquarters of his office in Cairo Wednesday. The meeting discussed how to build a solar power station in the governorate and a factory to produce the main components of the solar plant. Silica and glass sand are used for solar cells, and are abundant in the desert governorate. Construction will begin after completion of a feasibility study. Analysis will be undertaken to verify sand and silica quality, which is supposed to enable the factory not only to build the solar plant station but also to export these components abroad.
