WADI AL-GEDID, Egypt: Fire caught palm trees field in the village of Kalmoun in Wadi al-Gedid. The fire moved gradually along 50 acres. Civil defense forces could hardly control the fire because the strong winds spread the fire quickly. There were no any injuries or death toll. General attorney is investigating the reasons of the fire. The governor of the region, Tarek Mahdy, and director of the governorate security, Othman Nagy, moved to the site of the fire to follow up on the extinguishing and emptying the nearby houses. Othman Nagy said they controlled the fire and they cooled down the place. Criminal Evidences units will move to the site of the fire to determine the cause of the fire. The number of palm trees burnt reached 10,000 according to preliminary estimates.
