CAIRO: Egypt refuses any foreign interference in the electoral process, but it will accept logistical assistance, said Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Fayza Aboul Naga. “Japan offered 70 million EGP (U.S. $11.72 million) in aid to Egypt to establish voting houses for the next parliamentary elections and South Korean offered 100 cars for the Ministry of the Interior,” Naga said. “There is a Japanese expert who will work to restructure the ministry to achieve the demands of the January 25 Revolution,” she said. Naga also said that she signed an agreement with the South Korean ambassador to facilitate the financing of the second stage of an Egyptian manufacturing agreement, a deal worth U.S. 1.3 million. “This year witnessed notable progress in Egyptian-South Korean cooperation, particularly in specialized fields where Koreans enjoy experience and efficiency,” she said. “I am happy to increase cooperation with Egypt and I hope to rebuild and develop Egypt through serious work,” said the Japanese ambassador to Cairo. The ambassador also urged the Egyptian government to open the door to scientific research for youth, so that the country can achieve progress. “South Korea is spending about five percent of its GDP on scientific research initiatives,” said the South Korean ambassador, adding that this type of development paves the way for an entire society. He also added that he offered to offer the experience of Koreans with regard to traffic problems in a meeting with the Cairo governor.
