CAIRO: Elections for the Egyptian Press Syndicate will be held Oct 26, said the Press Syndicate Tuesday. The State Council postponed elections after one syndicate member filed a legal complaint. The first round of elections will be held Oct. 26. If 50 percent of the syndicate's General Assembly members do not attend, the voting time will be expanded from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, said Salah Abdel Maqsoud, the current chairman. If no candidate wins the syndicate presidency by more than 50% of the votes, the General Assembly will hold a meting, said Abdel Maqsoud.
