CAIRO: Egypt's Administrative Judicial Court of the State Council issued a verdict Thursday stopping the elections of Press Syndicate, which were scheduled for Friday. Khaled Atfy, a candidate for press syndicate membership, filed a suit to stop the elections. Atfy said the call elections should be called by the elected chairman, not acting manager Salah Abdel Maqsoud. The syndicate will submit a request to stop the court verdict, said the legal advisor of the press syndicate, Sayyed Abu Zeid. Abu Zeid said the syndicate also possess all files showing that election decision was issued by the syndicate council not Abdel Maqsoud. If the query is not submitted Thursday, the court verdict will come into force, he continued. If the judiciary accepts the query Saturday, the elections will be held Sunday. The Syndicate council is holding an emergency meeting Thursday.
