CAIRO: Newly re-elected Cairo University President Hossam Kamel said in his first official statement that he is grateful to his colleagues for their support. He also said he would do all he could to preserve the University's position among the best 500 universities in the world. Kamel was elected partly to transform the Electoral College of the University into an advisory council, as many of its members were selected by different faculties. He also said that while he is president, major decisions regarding the university as a whole would be presented to the Electoral College to express the opinions of faculty members.
