CAIRO: Dozens of calligraphy school teachers organized a demonstration in front of the Ministry of Education on Monday to protest against the orders issued by the former Minister of Education, Ahmed Zaki Badr, to reduce school activities. Egyptian Minister of Education Ahmed Gamal el-Din Moussa promised to meet their demands and to resolve the different problems related to teachers in different sectors. Moussa demanded the head of the Public Education Sector, Reda Mosaad Saeed, to meet with them and hear out their complaints. On the other hand, the teachers criticized the decision to reduce their school activities, which will undermine Arab calligraphy, which is a talent Egypt surpassed in the Islamic world. It is important to mention calligraphy schools were established in 1922 to protect the artistic heritage.
