Kuwaiti lawyers: Mubarak not a killer like Gadhafi, Assad

CAIRO: A press conference was held for the six Kuwaiti lawyers who volunteered to defend the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. The lawyers are in Sofitel hotel in al-Jazeera to discuss their motives and reasons to defend Mubarak.
The names of the lawyers are Faisal el-Otaiby, Bashayer Mohamed and Gaafar el-Kheir, Abed Saad Mohamed, Mohamed Khaled Eldahy and Mohamed Nagy Mohamed.
At the beginning of the conference el-Otaiby said the lawyers came to Egypt to return the favor to Mubarak, who stood with Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion in 1990.
"Mubarak didn't commit such massacres and crimes like the Muammar Gadhafi in Libya or Bashar el-Assad in Syria," el-Otaiby said. He added it was noble and courageous when Mubarak decided to step down and not kill his people.
El-Otaiby said Mubarak is still legally the president of Egypt and the lawyers arrived here to support the “leader of nation.” They do not consider themselves interfering in Egypt's internal affairs.
He sent his condolences to the revolution martyr's families, asking Egypt to cooperate and confront the crises throughout the Middle East.
There were clashes when a journalist asked the lawyer delegation to refer to Mubarak as the ‘ousted' president instead of referring him as the current president of Egypt.
The conference organizers and Mubarak supporters were so frustrated, the delegation decided to withdraw from the conference. In time, he organizers calmed the situation.
Head of the volunteer defense team, Yousry Abdel Razek, was confirmed by the Egyptian Minister of Justice, Mohamed Abdel Aziz el-Gendy, about Kuwaiti lawyers' permission to join Mubarak's defense team.
