A group of 10 lawyers from Kuwait have volunteered to defend Egypt's ousted president Hosni Mubarak and plan to attend the third session of his trial, to be held on 5 September in Cairo. The head of Mubarak's defence committee, Yousri Abdel Razek, says he has been able to obtain permits for the Kuwaiti lawyers to attend the trial. The Kuwaiti group is headed by Faisal Eteiby, who plans to hold a press conference upon his arrival in Cairo to explain his colleagues' reasons for defending the ousted dictator. So far, 1,700 lawyers make up Mubarak's defence team. Of these, 50 were chosen to represent the others in court, in compliance with the limit set by the Supreme Court. Hosni Mubarak and his sons Alaa and Gamal are currently facing charges of corruption. Mubarak is also accused together with former interior iinister Habib El-Adly of inciting violence against demonstrators during Egypt's January 25 Revolution, leading to the death of protesters.
