Egypt press – August 10
Published in Youm7 on 10 - 08 - 2011

Egypt press reported the violence aroused in the town of Gerga in the governorate Sohag in Upper Egypt, deploying 6,000 armed men in Sinai to put an end to differences and the division on organizing the million-man demonstration of “Friday of loving Egypt”.
Youm7:
The daily newspaper Youm7 conducted an evaluation on the performance of the Supreme Council of the Armed forces (SCAF) during its 6-month-ruling period. The positive aspects of the evaluation include the SCAF filling the gap of power after the ousting of the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his regime. The army joined the revolutionaries and did not attack demonstrators.
However the negative aspects include settling differences between the SCAF and revolutionary youth, and passing the laws without taking the opinions of intellectuals and politicians.
The paper published a small police article about security forces operation room during the January 25 Revolution, which revealed the head of security forces sector, Ahmed Ramzy, and his assistants ordered all forces to be fully armed to open fire upon demonstrators.
Al-Ahram:
State-run newspaper Al-Ahram reported Muabark told his receptionists in International Medical Center he did not commit mistakes in fear of staying in Egypt after his ousting. An expert analyzed Mubarak's statement denies the idea of any deal between Mubarak and the SCAF.
New Judiciary Authority Law will stipulate cancelation of the State Security Prosecution, appoint a Public Prosecutor by order from the Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC). Judiciary inspection will be affiliated to SJC rather than the Egyptian Ministry of Justice and judges shall not remain out of Judiciary platform more than five years.
Al-Akhbar:
Al-Akhbar newspaper exclusively published the text of the latest agreement between Hamas and Fatah in Cairo. The agreement includes:
• Releasing all prisoners from both sides.
• Granting Palestinians the right to have passports.
• Returning figures of Fatah to the Gaza Strip.
• Opening all closed entities.
• Holding two meetings for national reconciliation.
• Holding meeting of Palestinian Liberation Organization without waiting for forming of a government.
In another story, Lawyer Shehata Mohamed Shehata filed a lawsuit against ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak accusing him of involvement in killing more than 7,000 Central Security soldiers in 1986.
Al-Masry Al-Youm:
Independent newspaper Al-Masy Al-Youm reported the Salafis announced forming a legitimate committee to settle any disputes and differences in Sinai. They asked for help from 6,000 armed men to carry out rules by force.
The Salafis will not turn into armed militias and the committees' duty will not end by the time of returning of the police forces to their normal positions, said a Salafi founder, Abu Ayoub, who added there is no presence of al-Qaeda members.
Al- Gomhorreya:
The Egyptian economy went through a revival state two months ago and the exports rate raised by 30 percent compared to last year, said the Egyptian Minister of Finance.
Egyptian Information and Decision Center conducted an opinion poll revealing Arabs and Americans are optimistic about Egypt's future after Mubarak's downfall. Israel believes the Islamic extremism has a larger chance now.
