CAIRO: Famous Egyptian actress Hend Rustom died on Monday at the age of 82. Rustom suffered an acute heart attack. She was transferred to al-Bourg Hospital. She died at the hospital. Egyptians consider Hend Rustom to be one of the most important actresses in Arab history. She acted in over 74 films and often took the role of temptress during her work in the 1950s. She then was dubbed the ‘Marilyn Monroe of the East' and the ‘Queen of Seduction.' Rustom decided to retire after her last movie, ‘Hayati Azab,' in 1979. She said she wanted to be remembered in the Egyptian cinema at her peak. Her funeral is scheduled for Tuesday.
