CAIRO: Hundreds of Egyptian military police forces broke into Tahrir Square from all the square's entrances today. They arrested some of the protesters in the square and destroyed their tents. Troops also opened fire in the air. Some of the demonstrators were injured when they tried to face the military and security forces that took control of the square. Armored military vehicles closed all the square's entrances to remove the tents and clean up the sit-in's aftermath. Many political parties and groups had announced earlier that they would end the sit-in during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month which began today.
