Sudanese Central Bank announced North Sudan will issue a new currency today. The new state of South Sudan announced it will issue new currency and it will be called the South Sudanese pound and be equal to the value of currency in North Sudan. In a brief statement, the Central Bank in Sudan said the new currency will go into trade on Sunday, despite earlier claims that it will take three months to put forth a currency as a precaution to South Sudan's plans. The South Sudanese pound witnessed recession in the black market and according to economists, the essential foreign currency to finance the exports will witness a recession also as a result of drop of petrol income. South Sudan acquired 75 percent of Sudanese petrol production, estimated at 500 thousand barrels. The states of North and South Sudan still have many issues to resolve, such as ending violence in the common border areas and sharing petrol income.
