The U.S Authority for Immigration, Tariffs and Internal Security organized a workshop to counter antiquities trafficking on Egypt's borders and ports. It will continue for four days, from tomorrow, July 18 to July 21. The statement, issued by the U.S Embassy in Cairo, clarified that American and Egyptian officials will focus on the smuggling and trafficking of Egyptian antiquities. It added that the workshop aims at improving the Egyptian abilities to prevent illegal exportation of the cultural properties through implementing active supervision on exportations. The statement signaled that Egyptian archeological sites and other sites are threatened by theft and illegal smuggling to countries that are considered a market for these monuments.
