LUXOR, Egypt: Over 3,500 tourist drivers in Luxor decided to organize a demonstration on Wednesday in front of the headquarters of the governorate to protest against the Minister of Tourism, Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour, refusing to pay them an allowance after the suspension of tourism. The drivers threatened to block the road of the airport if the government did not respond to their demands. They also demanded from the Ministry to deal with them like the guide tours who were given an allowance from their syndicate as a way of compensating for the decrease in tourism since January 25. One of the drivers said that drivers have been harmed just like the guide tours. He demanded for travel agencies to suspend their policies that aim to force the drivers to resign. The drivers also demanded an increase in their wages.
