CAIRO: The Editor-in-Chief of Al-Wafd daily newspaper, Osama Heikal, has been nominated to be Egypt's Minister of Information for a specific period of time. Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf met with Heikal Thursday. Heikal said the government decided to restore the Ministry of Information due to the negative repercussions of dissolving it after the January 25 Revolution. He added that he is charged to rehabilitating the Egyptian media in an atmosphere of freedom. Sources told Youm7 that there will be a specific period of time for the ministry's reforms, and then the government may dissolve it again because it is not convinced of the ministry's necessity.
