Tawfik: GASCO will repair gas pipeline immediately

CAIRO: Chairman of the Egyptian Company for Natural Gas (GASCO), Magdy Tawfik, declared the company will start repairing the gas pipeline that exploded on early Monday.
He said they the flow process of Egyptian gas was suspended to control the fires.
Tawfik declared a technical committee was formed to prepare a final report of the incident, which led to burning the chamber of control valves no. 2. He added they discovered another explosion occurred in chamber no. 3.
Tawfik said his company is coordinating with security and investigation authorities, clarifying the Armed Forces dealt with the explosion, which didn't explode to defuse it. He added the explosion led to suspension of gas supplies to the electricity station of Arish and cement factories. Also, it suspended gas supplies to local markets and exporting pipelines.
Tawfik said Egypt's Minister of Petroleum is following up on the situation with the officials of the company.
