CAIRO: The explosion of the Egyptian gas pipeline harms the Egyptian economy, not Israeli interests, said Head of the Egyptian Company for Natural Gases (GASCO) Magdy Tawfik today. “Egypt's gas supplies to Israel were suspended two months ago.” The recent explosion on early Tuesday led to the suspension of gas supplies to Arish's electricity station, cement factories, houses, trade facilities and suspended gas exports to Jordan, he claimed. “A number of unknown suspects managed to explode one of the rooms of the pipeline in Port Said—Arish on Tuesday at 1:50 a.m. Officials managed to isolate the exploded room and extinguish the fire. The fire did not injure any people but caused inventory and property damage.
