CAIRO: Egypt's ruling military council has warned of foreign interference in internal affairs with an intent to incite sectarian violence. The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) added in a statement that the police of the West, not Western Christians, and the politicians who are Zionist supporters adopt this ideology. Those politicians try to incite some Muslims to trigger sectarian violence and increase division in the country in the name of "Islam." They try to rip the Islamic history apart, added the statement, saying that history “is the common element between Christianity and Islam on this blessed land,” said military staff member Samy Diab. In a symposium called, "Fifteen centuries… love and fraternity," which was attended by several Islamic and Christian figures, Diab added that Egypt faces certain threats such as support for terrorism, provision of weapons to those who incite violence, corruption, and the spreading of degeneration among the youth in the name of freedom and globalization. Diab said the Ten Commandments, which are holy to Christians, are similar to the Islamic traditions in the last part of the al-Anaam chapter of the Quran. He said, “We should liberate ourselves from imported political trends.”
