A new healthcare bill has been frozen by the Egyptians financial supervisory authority. The bill was proposed by the healthcare committee of the Egyptian Federation of Insurance Companies. Abdul Raouf Qotb, head of the Egyptian Federation of Insurance Companies and Managing Director of Egyptian Saudi Insurance House, praised the FSA for freezing the bill. With regard to the circular that the Healthcare Commission sent to the Federation, Qotb said the bill had been frozen prior to it being issued. The most important feature of this bill is the need for companies to get permission from the Authority before the start of operation and to meet minimum capital requirements as well as other conditions.
