ISTANBUL, Turkey: Turkish President Abdullah Gul met on Sunday with representatives of Egypt's January 25 Revolution during their visit to Turkey. They generally discussed democratic change in Egypt, and the political and economic Turkish experience. Gul advised the Egyptian youth to not focus so much on revenge, and to instead focus on reforming their country. He said that Egyptians have great aspirations, which need a lot of energy in order to be achieved. The Turkish president also said the democratic path requires a legal political environment and fair elections, as the multiparty aspect needs discussion in a democratic framework. The president expressed his hope regarding Egypt's transitional period. In response to Youm7's question on the role of the Egyptian youth, Gul said he praises the political role they took. The spirit of revolution in Egypt and Tunisia spread to the rest of the Arab countries, he added. Gul said the Turkish experience may not necessarily be applied exactly in Egypt, as each country has its own characteristics. "Given that the Turkish experience has entered Egypt, it is evident that Egypt will succeed in the future," he said. 56 members of the delegation of the Youth's Revolution visited Turkey to closely examine Turkish political and economic policies, along with the mechanisms of the Turkish party elections before July 12.
