ISTANBUL - Turkish President Abdullah Gul Saturday called on young Egyptians to get down to work as soon as possible, in order to complete their great revolution and achieve the Egyptian people's hopes for a democratic nation. In a meeting with nearly 60 Egyptian revolutionaries of different political leanings, Gul also urged the young Egyptians to keep the flame of their revolution burning and not to indulge in 'revenge'. "There will be a multi-party system in Egypt from now on and whoever the nation wants will rule the country," he added during the meeting in his private residence. President Gul explained that Turkey is closely monitoring developments in Egypt, while Turkish-Egyptian relations will continue to be strong and the two countries will always benefit from each other's experiences. The Turkish President said that all nations have to overcome their fears and struggle to be ruled by robust and respected administrations. "Muslim Arab leaders should look at the world and realise that there is no place for authoritarian regimes in the Islamic world," Gul stressed, pointing out that the New Egypt cannot be the same as the Turkish model. "Every nation has its own problems. Therefore, it's not normal to apply the same model to another nation," he said. Egyptian revolutionaries, meanwhile, called on the Turkish leader to open a university branch or faculty in Turkey, arguing that the time is right for the two countries to establish a strategic partnership to safeguard the future of their peoples.
