Shakhtar Donetsk struck at the death to down Zamalek 3-2 in the friendly Matchworld Cup in Abu Dhabi. The Whites put in a relatively spirited display but a hard-fought draw was shattered by a late strike from Ukrainian league top scorer Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Croatia striker Eduardo da Silva broke the deadlock on nine minutes before Ahmed Hassan notched a 17th minute equalizer. Mohamed Ibrahim put Zamalek in front in the 21st minute but Shakhtar captain Darijo Srna pulled level near the end of the first half as the Ukrainian champions dictated play until their last-gasp winner. Late drama Shakhtar took the lead when Eduardo caught the Zamalek defense napping before breaking clear and lobbing the ball into the net after going one-on-one with Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed. But a horrendous blunder from the Ukrainians' rearguard allowed Ahmed Gaafar to pounce on a poor backpass before squaring for Hassan, who slotted home into an empty net for the leveller. Four minutes later, Zamalek starlet Ibrahim hit a magnificent strike when he cut inside the area before curling home into the far corner with power. However, another Croatian struck when winger Srna refused to see his team enter the dressing room trailing to equalize with a fine volley. After the break, the impressive Ibrahim almost scored a wonder goal with a long range thunderbolt that bounced off the bar. Shakhtar replied with a terrific effort from Romanian substitute Razvan Rat, whose classy effort ricocheted off the woodwork. After having most of the possession for long spells, the Ukrainians settled it two minutes from time when Rat fed Mkhitaryan to tap in an easy winner from close range.
