Performance of the week Hany Ramzy – the first Egyptian to manage a European team – guided Lierse to a 2-0 victory over Gent on his debut. Egypt center-half Ahmed Saied ‘Ouka' played 90 minutes for the Belgian league strugglers, while Mohamed Al-Gabbas came on as a second-half sub. Hegazi makes overdue debut After 12 weeks of warming the bench, Egypt defender Ahmed Hegazi made his debut for Fiorentina, coming on as a second-half sub in the thumping 4-1 win over Atalanta. Winger Mohamed Salah also came on as a second-half substitute as Basel grabbed an emphatic 4-0 victory over Swiss league leaders Grasshoppers. After captaining Egypt in the goalless draw in Georgia, Hosni Abd-Rabou was forced to miss Al-Nasr's 3-1 league win over Ittifaq. Ahmed Elmohamady played 90 minutes to help Hull City cement their position in fourth place of the Championship with a 3-2 win at Birmingham. But Adam El-Abd missed out on Brighton's win at Huddersfield due to injury, while there was no place for the fit-again Mido in Barnsley's draw with Bolton. Mohamed Zidan's Bani Yas lost 1-0 to Shikabala's Al-Wasl in the cup but the latter was away on international duty. Later in the week, Shikabala returned to see his team agonizingly lose 2-1 to Al-Fujairah, courtesy of a 93rd minute goal. Amr Zaki made his first league start for Elazigspor since September, but was substituted in the 70th minute as his replacement Serdar Gurler scored the equalizer in a 1-1 draw at Istanbul Buyuksehir. While Ramzy enjoyed a good week in Belgium, former Egypt coach Hassan Shehata did not as he watched his Qatari side Al-Arabi lose 3-0 to Al-Jaish in the league.
