Egypt midfielder Shikabala scored Al-Wasl's only goal in a 1-1 Emirate league draw with Al-Dharfa on Sunday.
With a trade-mark left-footed finish, Shika broke the deadlock midway through the first half but Al-Dhafra leveled before half time via a Hassan Al-Ali goal.
In his goal celebration, Shikabala's paid tribute to manager Bruno Metsu, who was forced to quit two days ago after being diagnosed with suspected cancer.
Al-Wasl remained unbeaten as they moved to third place on nine points, one less than leaders Al-Nasr who have a game in hand.
