Shikabala's Al-Wasl have been walloped 4-0 by Al-Dhafra away from home in the Emirate Cup group stage on Wednesday. The hosts were inspired by a hat-trick from Senegalese striker Machete Diop who gave his side a two-goal cushion before the break on nine and 32 minutes. Midfielder Bandar Mohamed added his side's third nine minutes after the break as Diop wrapped up the victory with a superb header on 66 minutes. Shikabala, who has been lauded by his coach Bruno Metssu for his impressive displays of late, hardly made an impact in the game, with a below-par Al-Wasl struggling to carve out any clear-cut chances. They had a penalty kick thwarted by the keeper though, when Argentinean Mariano Donda missed from the spot six minutes from time after Al-Dhafra defender Mohammad Qassim had handled the ball in the area. Al-Wasl are now level on three points with Al-Dhafra, Al-Jazira and Bani Yas in group B, having claimed a 4-2 victory over rock bottom Ittihad back in September.
