A decision from higher authorities saved Zamalek from a major predicament after the Military Academy Stadium had announced its refusal to stage Saturday's game with Berekum Chelsea. Earlier on Wednesday, Zamalek said on their website that they have received a ‘severe shock' with the Military Academy's announcement, which comes only two days before the Champions League fixture. However, the Cairo club revealed that chairman Mamdouh Abbas was able to reach Sports Minister El-Amry Farouk, who saved the day by reassigning the game to the Military Academy. Zamalek were also reassured that a contingent of their fans will be allowed to attend the game in Cairo, following more than seven months of playing behind closed doors. The Whites have nothing to gain from the match against the Ghanaians, who need a win to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockouts alive.
