The Egyptian Super Cup will take place on September 8 following an agreement with the Minister of interior, according to the FA. The Egyptian football governing body declared a month ago that the Super Cup was scheduled for August 26, but the lingering security concerns prompted the postponement of the game between Ahli and ENPPI to an indefinite date. “We decided that the Super Cup will be played on September 8 after the authorities consented the date," FA spokesman Azmi Megahed told FilGoal.com. The FA also claims that the Egyptian Premier League will kick off on September 17, even so the date has yet to be confirmed by higher authorities. The Super Cup game is almost certain to be played behind closed doors as domestic competitions had been halted in the wake of the Port-Said calamity that claimed the lives of some 74 Ahli fans last February. The future of football in Egypt became on the rocks ever since, with the then Ministry of Interior rejecting football resumption in the near future; an announcement that prompted a state of dismay among all parties involved in the game. But with election of Mohamed Morsi as president and the appointment of a new government, officials had vowed to recommence football activity in an attempt to calm the state of unrest the country has been witnessing for quite a while.
