A second-string Egypt side eased to a 4-1 friendly win over World Cup hopefuls Lebanon in a friendly game in Beirut. Playing without Ahli and Zamalek players, Bob Bradley's men proved too strong to a Lebanon side preparing for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers final round; a stage they've never reached before. Center-half Ahmed Saied ‘Ouka' opened the scoring after just four minutes when he volleyed home from close range on the rebound. Fifteen minutes later it was two when Ouka's Harras Hodoud teammate Ahmed Mekki converted home from the spot after being shoved by the Lebanon keeper. The hosts pulled one back from the spot as well, with Ahmed Zreik notching home a controversial penalty after the hour mark. Egypt restored the two-goal advantage right before the break, thanks to a brilliant team move involving Mekki and Ahmed Temsah, who applied the finishing touch with aplomb. Shortly after half time, Ismaili midfielder Ahmed Khairi made it four with a superb solo effort. Egypt keeper Essam Al-Hadari was lucky not to concede an embarrassing goal near the end when he was caught way off his goal by a defender, only for the referee to disallow the goal.
