Hazem Emam has ended a prolonged spell of uncertainty over his Zamalek future by having a clear-the-air meeting with coach Hassan Shehata, in the wake of the recent administrative change. Emam has been at loggerheads with Zamalek after rescinding his contract to sign for Saudi side Faisali, before the Egyptian FA ruled that the procedure is void. He eventually returned to Cairo with the restoration of Mamdouh Abbas as club chairman as he seems to have patched things up with his employers. “I apologized to coach Shehata and told him that I only left this way because of the difficult period I was going through,” Emam told FilGoal.com. “He accepted my apology and asked me if I want to stay or leave the club as I intended, and I said I would like to stay. “The coach promised me that he will ask the new board to resolve my problems and indicated that I could be offered an improved contract as well.” Emam's U-turn comes after he had vowed not to play for Zamalek again; a stance that was met by sheer dismay from the club's fans and managing staff. But with the return of Abbas and Co., board member Ibrahim Youssef said last week that the 23-year-old will be dealt with like a ‘son who made a mistake', ruling out a definite exit.
