Manchester City and Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure has been named African Player of the Year 2011 by CAF. The 28-year-old Toure pipped Ghana's Andre Ayew and Mali's Seydou Keita to claim the award for the first time. The former Barca man becomes the second-ever Ivorian to win the gong as Chelsea ace Didier Drogba had won it twice before. Egypt keeper Ahmed Al-Shennawi missed out on the Most Promising Talent award, losing to Souleymane Coulibaly of Ivory Coast and Tottenham. Champions League winners Esperance were named Club of the Year as skipper Oussama Darragi won the Africa-based Player of the Year.
