Sunderland secured their first win in five games as they dramatically edged out fellow strugglers Blackburn Rovers 2-1 in the English Premier League on Sunday. The Black Cats came from behind to snatch two goals in the last six minutes in a game that saw Egypt wing-back Ahmed Elmohamady confined to the bench for the whole 90 minutes. Simon Vukcevic's first-half header was cancelled out by David Vaughan's magnificent strike from 25 yards out six minutes from regular time before Sebastian Larsson's stoppage-time free-kick gifted the hosts all three points. The game witnessed a lengthy 11-minute stoppage time following a collision between Larsson and Blackburn's Jason Lowe in what appeared to be a serious injury for the latter. It is manager Martin O'Neill's debut win on Sunderland bench as the former Aston Villa boss spectated his side's last week defeat at Wolverhampton from the stands. The win lifted Sunderland to 16th spot on 14 points in the league table, while Blackburn froze on ten points in penultimate position.
