Quotes of November
Published in FilGoal on 28 - 11 - 2010

Enjoy FilGoal.com's compilation of some of the most controversial, bizarre and hilarious quotes during the month of November.
Egyptian Hannibal Lecter?
"I will mince whoever try to hurt any player from Zamalek," a threat from football director Ibrahim Hassan indicating that Ajax striker Luis Suarez may not be the only Hannibal Lecter in the football scene.
"If we had travelled on the same plane (heading to Mecca where they performed pilgrimage) it would have exploded," Zamalek's want-out keeper Essam Al-Hadari explained how terrible his relationship with the Hassan twins is, but will such an explosion take place at the Cairo club later?
"Honestly speaking, (Egypt coach Hassan) Shehata and (former Ahli tactician Manuel) Jose understand me very well. They know how to make me play comfortably. I don't want my words to be misinterpreted, I'm grateful to (Hossam) Al-Badri," indeed, Mohamed Abou-Treika's statements were clearly understood!
"All my players used to put on loose-fitting pants, but not anymore. It's prohibited now. It's uncivilized and inappropriate, especially that they represent their country," Egypt U-17 coach Mohamed Omar unveiled the team's dress code which prevents his men from 'exposing their boxer shorts'.
Common Sense
"In football, the team that defend and attack better than the other win the game," apparently, pundit Hassan Al-Shazli has common sense, lots of it!

Zaki's discipline was brought into question more than once
"People should criticize (me) for my performances on the pitch, not anything off it," probably not the smartest thing to say by Amr Zaki after he was slated for attending actress Menna Fadali's flamboyant birthday party.
"Like Real Madrid, the Manchester United job is special and only a special manager is good enough to take the job on if and when it does become available," it's not hard to tell whom Jose Mourinho meant by a 'special manager'.
"We didn't deal with the matter in the ideal way. We didn't have the sufficient experience of dealing with such situation and atmosphere. We failed to quickly put an end to the dispute and could not reveal all the facts surrounding the saga," a late confession from Egyptian Football Association president Samir Zaher but it doesn't fully show how incompetent and dishonest the EFA was while dealing with the infamous Algeria feud.
"I must have been given the evil eye. I was hurt right after scoring the goal," in jest, Ahli midfielder Shehab Ahmed explained why he sustained an ankle injury in the 1-1 league draw with Gouna.
"I said that he (Barcelona keeper Jose Manuel Pinto) should have got (suspended for) five games… Maybe he (Pep Guardiola) doesn't understand Norwegian humor, I'll have to take that on me," Copenhagen manager Stale Solbakken commented on his row with Barca's boss. No doubt that the Norwegian sense of humor is an acquired taste.
"He (Guardiola) wants to be a philosopher when he talks his talk, when he expresses himself. It's Mahatma Ghandhi talk when he's preparing. He thinks he has created the football that exists in Barcelona," Ibrahimovic said. Maybe that's another reason why the highly-rated manager didn't find Solbakken funny!
American Toronto!
"Toronto is about to become a USA state," Ibrahim Saied is convinced that the largest Canadian city will be part of the US only because its football team compete in the Major League Soccer.

Mansour made more troubles than anyone else at Zamalek
"In (former chairman) Mamdouh Abbas's tenure Zamalek suffered from unrest, whereas the club didn't witness a single fight during mine," obviously Mortada Mansour, also an ex-chief of the Cairo side, has a very bad memory.
"Real Madrid got donations from their fans when they needed money and no one attacked them for that," an absurd claim made by Zamalek interim president Galal Ibrahim, who most probably doesn't know that Los Merengues paid a world-record fee of £80million to land Cristiano Ronaldo.
"We won 2-1 in Cairo and they beat us 1-0 in Tunisia, so we deserve to go through," Ahli's disqualification from the CAF Champions League at the hands of Tunisia's Esperance revealed that former Red Devils coach Al-Badri doesn't accredit the away-goal rule!
"I'll go down with a heart disease as a result of the referees' injustice towards me," from Police Union midfielder Ayman Saied, dubbed 'The Butcher' for his overly violent challenges, these words sound particularly strange.
"I'm not a young player to remain on the sidelines waiting for a chance to play regularly," Ahli defender Mohamed Samir, 23, set a very good example!
Technophobe V Technophile
"You can know everything about what happens in someone's private life because of the mobile phone. It can record all the time. It can take pictures. You can find everything on Facebook or Twitter. It is the worst thing," England manager Fabio Capello seems to be a technophobe.
"I have to say I'm addicted to Twitter now to be honest. It really bridges that gap between us and the fans," conversely, Three Lions skipper Rio Ferdinand sees the positive side of the social networking sites, in an extreme way though.
