Egyptian striker Mido featured for Ajax for around 30 minutes but couldn't help the Amsterdam side avoid a 2-0 loss at AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday. The former Zamalek star was introduced on the hour mark, replacing Urby Emanuelson. He received a yellow card in the 80th minute. Pontus Wernbloom and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored for hosts Alkmaar on 74 and 77 respectively. Mido, who has made four Ajax appearances since rejoining the Dutch giants in the close season, broke his scoring duck in the 3-0 victory over second-division side Veendam last week when he headed home a pinpoint cross from the left. It was his first goal since he netted the equalizer in Zamalek's 1-1 Egyptian league draw with Gouna in September last year. The 27-year-old, who fell out of favor with Egypt coach Hassan Shehata, moved back to Ajax on a season-long loan from English second-division side Middlesbrough in summer transfer window.
