A car accident prevented Mohamed Abdullah from completing a move to Zamalek in time, but the winger sealed the deal late on Tuesday. Abdullah, who was plying his trade at Asyut Petroleum on loan from Ittihad this season, signed a three-year contract with his former club Zamalek. "I couldn't arrive in Cairo on time due to a car accident," he told FilGoal.com. "I wasn't hurt but my teammates Saied Rabie and Hani Ghayth sustained facial injuries." Asyut striker Rabie had his nose broken while defender Ghayth suffered a wound across his eyebrow. Before Abdullah's deal went through, Ittihad were adamant that the in-form midfielder wouldn't be able to move away from the Alexandrian side without their approval, as his contract was still valid. However, the 28-year-old assured that he would be free to join any other side upon invoking his release clause. Zamalek were keen to sign a wide man because right-back Ahmed Ghanem could well leave the Cairo club in the off-season.
