Borussia Dortmund announced that they have opened talks with polish striker Robert Lewandowski, in the wake of Mohamed Zidan's serious knee problem. Zidan was ruled out of action for six months after rupturing a cruciate knee ligament in Dortmund's 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim last week. Now the Bundesliga side are looking to fill the void left by the injury of the Egypt international. "The boy (Lewandowski) would like to switch to us," Dortmund's sports manager Michael Zorc told Sport 1. But 21-year-old Lewandowski, who plies his trade at Lech Poznan, might not be able to realize his dream as both clubs couldn't agree on the financial aspect of the deal in the past few days. "We are not prepared to meet the demands of Lech Poznan. They are too high," Zorc added. "We have no rush. In 14 days we will see our position in the table and will act accordingly."
Zidan out for six months Dortmund, who lie in fifth place in the league table with 56 points, hope for a third-place finish in order to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. They will be more keen on sealing the deal should they book a place in the prestigious competition. Polish first-division outfit Poznan put a € five-million price tag on Lewandowski's head but Dortmund believe the suggested figure is absurd. Lewandowski scored 27 goals in 54 games with Poznan. On the international level, he struck six times with Poland. His ability to rifle shots with both legs makes him dangerous in dead-ball situations. Lewandowski's ball control is also one of his main advantages. Lewandowski's highlights
