Mohamed Zidan's Borussia Dortmund booked a place in the Europa League despite losing 3-1 to Freiburg in their final Bundesliga game on Saturday. Argentinean striker Lucas Barrios, who finished as Dortmund's top scorer with 19 goals, put them in front with a 47th-minute goal. However, a brace from Freiburg's Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse and a goal from his partner Mohammadou Idrissou of Cameroon gave the hosts all three points. Dortmund, whose hopes of earning a place in the Champions League for the first time since 2004 were effectively over when they lost to Mainz before drawing with Hoffenheim last month, finished fifth in the league table. They will play in the third qualifying round of the Europa League - the continent's secondary competition. Egypt forward Zidan missed the latter stages of the season after rupturing the cruciate knee ligament during Dortmund's 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim on April 18. He scored six league goals and dished out several assists for his teammates this season.
