Zamalek defender Mahmoud Fathallah is likely to feature in Friday's Cairo derby against Ahli after coming through a training session unscathed on Thursday. The Egyptian international was deemed doubtful for the anticipated clash after picking up a groin injury in Zamalek's 1-1 draw at home to Police Union in last week's Egyptian Premier League game. He missed the 2-1 defeat by Harras Hodoud earlier this week but should be fit to play against Ahli after shrugging off the complaint. Fathallah has been in sparkling form since coach Hossam Hassan took over at Zamalek, giving assured displays in the heart of a four-man defense. The team have conceded just four goals in their last nine games, thanks to the impressive displays of Fathallah and his partner Amr Al-Safti. The 28-year-old, Zamalek's usual penalty-taker, is also their second top scorer with five goals, two behind striker Ahmed Gaafar. The White Knights, who lie second in the league table, are nine points behind leaders Ahli who have a game in hand. Ahli will secure a sixth consecutive league title if they beat Zamalek at Cairo Stadium on Friday.
